Arrive in Salalah, collect your 4×4 rental, and make your way to your chosen hotel (3, 4, or 5*)**, where you can settle in and unwind after your journey. Take some time to relax before our first taste of Dhofar’s coastal beauty.

In the early evening, we’ll head to one of Salalah’s stunning beaches, where you’ll witness a breathtaking sunset over the Arabian Sea. The sky fills with seabirds, and the soft sands come alive with young Omani men playing beach football, a popular local pastime. This is the perfect way to soak in Salalah’s laid-back charm before the adventures ahead.

Today, we explore Dhofar’s rich history and stunning landscapes, driving along remote roads and off-road tracks to uncover hidden gems. Our journey begins in Taqah, where we visit its historic castle, before heading to Sumhuram, the reputed Palace of the Queen of Sheba. Once a major frankincense trade hub, this UNESCO-listed site offers a glimpse into Oman’s legendary past.

Next, we venture into Wadi Darbat, a lush valley where storks, camels, and cows roam freely, and seasonal waterfalls create breathtaking scenery. Our final stop is Tawi Atir, home to one of the largest sinkholes in Arabia, nicknamed the “Well of Birds” for the flocks nesting within. After a day of adventure, we return to Salalah to relax at our hotel.

After yesterday’s long adventure, today is a chance to slow down and soak in Salalah’s rich history and coastal beauty. We’ll start with a visit to the Al Balid Museum, where you’ll learn about Dhofar’s legendary frankincense trade, followed by time for souvenir shopping at the local souks.

Later, we’ll take a leisurely drive to Ain Gariz, a beautiful natural spring nestled in the mountains, and explore other scenic spots near Salalah. There’s also time to relax on the beach, enjoying the warm sea breeze before heading back to our hotel for a restful evening. 

Today, we head east to Mirbat, a town rich in history and coastal beauty. We’ll explore the Baobab Forest, home to ancient, towering trees rarely seen in Arabia, before visiting Mirbat Fort, the site of the famous Battle of Mirbat.

The next section is a spectacular wadi drive, a route developed by Marina herself. This thrilling track winds through rugged mountains, leading us down to fishermen’s beach, on the shores of the Indian Ocean, where we may spot camels, seabirds, and breathtaking coastal views before returning to Salalah for the night.
