Duba
Continue up the Red Sea coast to Duba.

Day 5-6
Tabuk
Today you head inland towards Tabuk, with a highlight detour to Wadi Disah—towering sandstone, palms, and one of the most beautiful landscapes in the region.

Madinah

Is Saudi Arabia safe to visit?
Yes. Saudi Arabia is considered safe for visitors, particularly those travelling independently by car. Violent crime against tourists is extremely rare, and the regions covered by this road trip are stable, well policed and accustomed to domestic and international travellers. As with anywhere, sensible precautions apply, but most guests comment on how welcoming and calm the experience feels.
What about women travelling in Saudi Arabia? Can they drive, and how should they dress?
Women can legally drive in Saudi Arabia, including rental cars, and many do. Overseas driving licences are accepted, and female travellers will find driving on this itinerary straightforward.
There is no requirement for women to fully cover or wear an abaya. Modest dress is expected in public spaces, meaning loose-fitting clothing that covers shoulders and knees. In practice, most female visitors dress much as they would in other conservative destinations, and are treated with courtesy and respect throughout their travels. Note – recommend loose clothing and hair covering in the holy city of Madinah
What are the roads like in Saudi Arabia?
Road quality is generally good. Highways are modern, well maintained and clearly signposted, with fences to keep camels off the road, particularly on the main routes. All driving on this journey is on fully paved roads. Distances can be long, but traffic outside major cities is usually light, making driving relaxed rather than stressful; that being said, we recommend this itinerary for confident drivers.
Is this trip suitable if I’ve never driven in the Middle East before?
Yes, provided you are a confident and experienced driver. This itinerary has been carefully planned with realistic daily distances, clear navigation and well-chosen overnight stops. You are travelling independently, but with detailed route planning, guidance and support in place, so you are never left to work things out on the fly.
Do I need to worry about alcohol restrictions?
Alcohol is not available in Saudi Arabia. This journey is best suited to travellers who are comfortable without alcohol and who enjoy evenings focused on good food, conversation and a sense of place rather than nightlife. For most guests, this quickly becomes a non-issue.
